Catcher in the Rye

Does school ever feel like torture? Well, yes, when you have to read novels like “Catcher in the Rye.”

After some sixty years of being on the required reading list for high schoolers, do you think schools could find a story that is a little more updated with a character who sounds a little more 21st Century?

I’m not suggesting, of course, that this book should be banned. Maybe it could be quietly put on the forgotten shelf, where it will no longer harm anyone.
